We specialise in the sympathetic repair and restoration of antique clocks and watches, ever mindful of the dangers of over restoration. We will carry out the work as directed, but will advise on the amount of restoration suitable for dials and casework. The dial restoration includes re-painting, re-waxing, re-silvering etc. Casework to include repairs to inlay, veneers, mouldings, feet, finials and re-polishing etc.
All work is guaranteed for one year and is carried out in our workshops by our Clock Maker, who is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute and a member of the British Watch & Clock Makers Guild.
Antique Clocks – even when they are running – need cleaning and servicing every 10 to 15 years, this will ensure that they don't wear out and that they keep good time – surprisingly, most clocks, which may be several hundred years old, are still capable of keeping quite accurate time.
Horror stories abound in the repairing of clocks. Very often we get customers bringing clocks in that some ‘hobbyist' or well-meaning retiree, looking for a new interest and who has taken a short course in Horology, has attempted and failed to exact a repair. It really is a case of ‘a little knowledge is a very dangerous thing'.
Our Clock maker has been professionally repairing and restoring clocks for 30 years, so you can relax in the knowledge that the job will be done properly, with no short cuts.
We have many rooms with antique clocks and furniture for sale.
